FAQ
-
What pests are most common in Charleston, South Carolina?
Charleston’s warm, humid climate attracts pests like ants, mosquitoes, roaches, spiders, rodents, and wasps. At Reif Environmental, we specialize in providing kid- and pet-friendly solutions for these local problem pests year-round.
-
Are your pest control products safe for kids and pets?
Yes. All of our treatments are family-friendly and eco-conscious. We use targeted applications designed to protect your home while keeping children and pets safe.
-
How often should I schedule pest control services?
For Charleston homeowners, we recommend quarterly service to keep pests away through every season. Our recurring plans prevent infestations before they start and include free re-services between visits if needed.
-
What is included in your quarterly pest control service?
Our quarterly service includes full interior and exterior protection:
- General pest control
- Spider web & wasp nest removal
- Baseboard & entry point treatments
- Barrier treatments around your home’s foundation
- Full yard spot treating for ant mounds
- Full interior and exterior warranty
-
Do you offer mosquito control and rodent prevention?
Absolutely. We offer seasonal mosquito control, rodent prevention programs, and attic/crawlspace treatments to help keep your entire property protected year-round.
-
Why should I choose Reif Environmental over other Charleston pest control companies?
Reif Environmental is a local family-owned business providing premium, customized service with unmatched care. We offer fast response times, eco-conscious products, transparent pricing, and friendly technicians who treat your home like their own.
-
What does your “eco-conscious” or “kid & pet-safe” pest control treatment mean?
Our treatments are specially selected with safety in mind—meaning we use products and application methods that minimize risk to children, pets, birds of prey, and beneficial wildlife. We also follow industry best practices for responsible usage, placement, and disposal.
This reassures families and homeowners who care about more than just “kill the bugs”. -
What kinds of pests do you treat under your general pest control package?
In the Charleston area we commonly manage ants (including fire ants), roaches, spiders (both house and those that crawl in), occasional wasp or hornet nests, millipedes, silverfish, slow-moving beetles, and others. For specific pests (termites, bed bugs) we provide separate inspections and treatments.
This helps clarify what’s covered vs. what might require a specialty service. -
How quickly can I schedule a service, and do you offer emergency or same-day options?
As a local, family-owned company we strive for quick response times. We typically schedule regular services within 1 business days of your request and offer fast response for urgent pest issues—please call us at (843) 410-3955 for immediate concerns.
-
Will I receive a guarantee or warranty with the service?
Yes. Our quarterly and recurring plans include interior & exterior protection plus free re-services between visits if pests return. We stand behind our work and will re-treat at no extra labor cost when needed (certain exclusions apply).
-
Are there any preparations I need to do before a technician arrives?
Typically, we ask that any visible clutter or storage items around the home’s perimeter be cleared so the technician can treat baseboards, entry points and the foundation effectively. Pets should be kenneled or kept away briefly during exterior treatments. Our technician can advise you on-site.
-
How do you determine pricing for your services?
Pricing is based on the size of the property, complexity (e.g., presence of heavy vegetation, number of entry points, past pest history), frequency of service, and specific pest challenges. With recurring service plans, we lock in value for you and proactively prevent issues rather than only reacting.
-
Do you service both residential and commercial properties?
Yes—we service single-family homes, townhomes, condos (with HOA contact if required) and commercial properties such as offices, retail spaces, restaurants, light industrial sites. For commercial accounts we can customize a schedule and scope to fit your business.
-
What areas do you service, and will you travel beyond Charleston proper?
We primarily serve the Charleston metro area including James Island, Mount Pleasant, Johns Island, West Ashley, Downtown Charleston, Summerville and surrounding communities. If you’re slightly outside this zone please call and we’ll confirm whether we can help.
-
Are you licensed and insured?
Absolutely. We are fully licensed and insured for both general pest control and specialty services (like honeybee relocation). On every job we carry liability insurance to protect your home and our technicians.
-
How long will a treatment take and when can we resume normal activities?
Most exterior treatments take about 30-60 minutes depending on the size and complexity of the property. Interior work (if included) may take slightly longer. You can typically resume normal activities immediately after the technician leaves, though we ask that children and pets remain off treated surfaces for about 1 hour (unless otherwise directed).
-
What happens if I move houses or I’m selling my home—can I transfer the service?
Yes. Many of our clients move and simply transfer their recurring plan to their new home within our service area—just call us and we’ll adjust the schedule and quick re-inspection at the new address.
-
For your honeybee relocation service, do you always patch the area? What does that cost?
Every honeybee relocation begins with a full inspection. If a patch‐up is possible (and the condition allows), our team will professionally clean, disinfect and seal the cavity or structure. Because every situation is unique (type of bees, structure access, infestation size) pricing is by quote—please schedule the inspection to get accurate pricing.
-
How do your mosquito-service plans work given seasonal changes?
Our mosquito season runs March through October. During even-numbered months we fog for adult mosquitoes, and during odd-numbered months we service mosquito larvae traps. This alternating approach keeps your yard protected for the full season.
-
For your rodent prevention service—what’s the significance of ‘1st generation baits’?
We use only first-generation baits—safer for pets, kids, wildlife, birds of prey—and apply them in secured tamper-resistant stations. You get effective rodent control without unnecessary risk to other animals or the environment.
-
What payment methods do you accept, and what happens if I’m dissatisfied?
We accept major credit cards, checks and ACH for recurring accounts. If you are ever dissatisfied with a service, call us within 24 hours and we’ll schedule a complimentary re-visit. We’re committed to your satisfaction and your home’s protection.
