It's one of the most common questions we get, and a fair one: if a product is strong enough to kill pests, is it safe to have around the people and animals you care about? The short answer is yes, when it's applied correctly and by a trained technician — but it's worth understanding why.

What Products Are Actually Used

Modern residential pest control uses EPA-registered products applied at labeled rates specifically designed for use around homes, not industrial or agricultural-strength chemicals. These products are formulated to target the nervous systems and biology of insects and rodents in ways that don't translate the same way to mammals like dogs, cats, or humans. Technicians are trained on exact application rates, and using more than the label allows isn't more effective — it's just against the label.

Where Products Are Applied vs. Where Your Family Spends Time

Most residential treatments focus on cracks, crevices, foundation lines, and entry points — not the open lawn or interior floor space where kids and pets play. Baseboard treatments, exterior perimeter sprays, and targeted bait placements are designed to intercept pests where they travel, which is rarely the same space where people and animals spend their time.

How Long to Wait Before Going Back Outside

Most exterior treatments dry within a couple of hours, at which point the product is bonded to the surface and no longer a contact risk. We'll always let you know if a specific treatment calls for extra caution, but for standard quarterly service, a short waiting period after application is typically all that's needed before pets and kids can be back in the yard.
